"Revitalize the Children with Congenital Heart Disease"

On Friday, November 4, 2022, Dr. Thanarat Layangkul, Director of Mother and Child Hospital and President of the Children's Heart Foundation under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Narathiwat Ratchanakarin, participated in the discussion about “Heart Disease in Children” in Wan Mai Variety Program, Thai PBS channel (ThaiPBS). He revealed that ‘Nowadays, there is an increasing risk of congenital heart disease among newborns. And with high of treatment demand, the waiting list for surgery is very long, causing many deaths along the way. There are also many poor children far away with congenital heart disease still waiting for treatment.’

The case of childbirth in PatRangsit Hospital was raised as the doctor found the congenital severe cyanotic heart disease in the newborn, which clogged heart valves that bring blood to the lungs caused atrophy in the right side of the heart, making it small and thick. The hospital coordinated the cost of treatment, and joined the treatment effort with the Children Cardiac Foundation of Thailand.
